Multi-tasking with the Swiss Army Knife
For nearly a century, the Swiss Army Knife has been a multifunctional tool that has been given as gifts, and passed down from one generation to the next. The Swiss Army Knife is indeed practical, and as such, receives many accolades for its multi-tasking use. Since its first debut, the Swiss Army Knife has indeed become a vintage and collectable item.
The Swiss Army Knife was created by a Swiss gentleman, Carl Elsner in the late 1800s. In 1897, the rudimentary knife made its way to the department store shelves. Many men were purchasing the Swiss Army Knife for themselves, and many women were purchasing the knife for their husbands as well as sons. The very first Swiss Army Knives were all created by hand, which was a painstaking process. However, Carl was able to create the knives via machines, which immediately created many more Swiss Army Knives. Due to the popularity that the knives drew in Switzerland, they were soon appearing in other countries as well, including the United States.
Once the Swiss Army Knives arrived in the United States, there was no stopping the sales. Even by today’s standards, the Swiss Army Knife does very well in sales.
