Vintage Victorian Paper Dolls
Vintage Ephemera has been a well received hobby among many collectors. Among
many of the items that are collected as vintage ephemera are Victorian paper
dolls. The dolls, found in many vintage magazines, have become great
collectors items.
The vintage paper dolls were often highlights for little boys and girls.
The paper dolls would be found in many popular magazines, or in
grocery stores and newsstands. The dolls, often called Jack and Jill, were
dolls that were printed on paper. The doll would have little tabs on them,
which would be cut out on the dolls as well. There were also " clothes" that
would come with the paper dolls. These "clothes" were made of paper as
well. The concept was for an adult or child to cut out the paper doll. The
dolls could change their clothes by switching out different styles on the
doll. Since the clothes were easily interchangeable, many different dolls
would wear different combination of clothing. This proved to have many
hours of valuable and highly affordable fun.
Eventually, the little girls that played with the paper dolls grow up into
women. Many women collected the vintage Victorian paper dolls, and passed
them down to their daughters. Through history and family heirlooms, vintage
Victorian paper dolls have remained a classic and memorable item for many
families. Each doll can tell a story, as it is passed down from one
generation to another.
There are many online sites that offer Victorian Paper Doll collectors
clubs. These clubs often have sellers that are seeking to sell or buy
Victorian paper dolls. These dolls can be dated all the way back to the
1800's, so they are indeed very much sought after. Such paper dolls, like
the Jack and Jill dolls, can be seen at a selling rate around $20.00. This,
of course, is a wonderful deal for any collector. Not only can the collector
purchase a desired item at an affordable rate, but they can also extend
their collection. Victorian paper dolls have been around for nearly 200
years, and they are sure to only gain in popularity as time goes by.
